Selous Game Reserve is a special location to many people for a variety of reasons, but for us it is “really "special that sparked a relationship of more than 20 exhilarating & adventurous years.

The magical “Passion for Africa”, for us became the magical “Passion for Selous”, that we decided to source the most remotest corner of this vast untouched wilderness and establish our “outpost” in form of the The Retreat.

As avid explorers, our sense of adventure had led us to discover much of the world staying in hotels, safari camps & retreats. We were always touched by places that had created a core sense of belonging, reflecting history, the natural habitat and the cultural heritage of the local people. Long before responsible tourism appeared in the positive movement of today, we were determined back then, that The Retreat would count as one of those considerate holistic places.

Passionate for the preservation of threatened wilderness, fragile communities and the environment as a whole, our mission has been realized here in the Selous Game Reserve. Careful attention to detail, the integration of locally sourced products and an ambience that is deeply rooted in Africa, touched by the numerous cultural influences of the centuries.
